FIGURES and OPERATIONS
Most students find it easy to recognise, write and even pronounce numbers in English. However, there are some figures and operations that can be more difficult for students.
How much is a billion?
In America:
1,000,000,000
In Europe:
1,000,000,000,000
What about operations? How do you say them?
1 + 1 = 2
one plus one equals two.
1 - 1 = 0
one minus one equals zero.
2 x 2 = 4
two times two equals four.
2 / 2 = 1
two divided by two equals one.
